To us, the best part of reading a new book or seeing a new film is discussing it afterward. The thing is, we generally don't make the time to sit down and have that conversation. Yet when we ask our friends their thoughts about a particular story, they usually have an instant opinion--and can summarize their feelings in about a second. That's where A One-Second Opinion comes in.
On this blog, we'll be posting one book and one movie released that month for critique. We encourage you to submit your review here. We have just one rule: your (opinionated, witty, and intelligent) review must be no longer than one short sentence.
In the archives, we'll have older books and movies to comment on (for the most part, I'll be going with the trade paperback release dates, just to keep things consistent).
We're by no means authorities on the merits of any cinematic or literary work. We're just here to open up a forum for discussion, and to provide readers with quick access to the only opinions anyone ever really respects: those of their friends.
